5. Self - body, spirit, gifts
6. Network - web, customers
7. Nature - life, seasons, outdoor
You have right to...
- ...perfect environments for you.
- ...to manage your environments as you wish.
- ...to craft and recraft your environments.
Environments work as a...
- ...system so that you don't have to do all the thinking and owrking.
- ...filter so that you can deal with smaller amounts of information or distractions.
- ...solution to the overwhelm of information you can experience.
Environments naturally...
- ...evolve you. They keep you responding and growing even when you don't want to.
- ...develop. You will re-engineer your environments as your needs and capabilities change.
- ...support you. They help you do more work with less effort and attention.
Superman had created an environment for many people......
Superman died yesterday.
I'm talking about Christopher Reeves, the actor who starred in the "Superman" movies and was paralyzed in a horseback riding accident in 1995. Is the disability and early death of this courageous, intensely positive and generous man a tragedy? Sure it is - for those he leftbehind. But his life? His life was a triumph.
Look... we're all going to pass away some day and I know many of you reading this have lost people very close to you. I certainly have. There's no two ways around it. It hurts. But in the end what really matters? It's all about what you do with what you've got while you're here. Reality is that we don't always have total control over all the things in our lives. What we *do* have control over is our attitude and life all boils down to this:
We can spread light or we can spread darkness. It's our choice, moment by moment, and 'circumstances' don't have a thing to do with it. What are *you* spreading?
--- Christopher Reeves was a master marketer. Reeves had a vision of a better world - in his case better treatment for spinalcord injury patients - and he promoted it relentlessly. Here's what Dr. John McDonald, thephysician who worked with Reeves, had to say about his life:
"Before him there was really no hope. If you had a spinal cord injury like his there was not much that could be done, but he's changed all that. He's demonstrated that there is hope and that there are things that can be done."
'Before him there really was no hope...' A lot of people think that marketing is all about money and the ego gratification that comes from it. That may be satisfying for a short while, but the real, lasting satisfaction that comes from becoming a skilled marketer is knowing that you're helping improve the lives of other people.
The soundest businesses I've seen and the happiest people I've met operate from this simple realization. Every human being I've ever met has challenges, limitations, and weaknesses, sometimes very serious ones. Some people nurse their doubts and disappointments. Others make the focus of their lives taking the good they do have and working with it, leveraging it, and building on it.
Not everyone is going to have as dramatical life story as Christopher Reeves, but everyone reading this can use the lessons they learn from the System and elsewhere to 'transform circumstances', to make things better... to bend steel in your bare hands...
Keep studying, keep working, have faithin yourself... the world is looking forward to *your* contribution.
Best,
Ken McCarthy

Exercise:
Answer the following:
1. What do environments mean to you?
2. What environments you mostly desire to have for supporting your life goals? Be specific and be clear.
3. If the environments just took care of your life goal for you, what would it look like?
4. Among the 7 environments, identify your strongest environments.
5. Describe the road map you have walked through in winning your strongest environment.
6. Among the 7 environments, identify environments that you need to repair.
7. Describe what could make you feel mostly supported for repairing those environments?
8. Write down a person's name in each of the 7 environments who could be your mentor/magical partner/coach.
Meditate on what you wrote until you are clear that you want to have the ownership of your desired environments. Make a note of what you are now experiencing.
o What is your energy level?
o What shifted?
o What words would you now use to describe you?
o What opportunities opened up that you previously did not see?
Follow up actions:
1. Share with at least one person what environment you decided to repair. Ask them to hold you accountable to act from your stance.
2. Design at least one action each day for one week that is consistent with what you declared your desired environment would be. Write down what you experience.
3. Measure Your Crafted Environment.
o What progress have you made?
o How can you use the lesson from this step to craft the environment to craft you further?
